Web Standards
In building my website, I have used XHTML 1.0 Transitional standards using CSS 2.1 and PHP 5. I have chose to use these standards because they are currently the most up-to-date standards used on the World Wide Web. Everything on my website will validate to these standards.
Usability
In making my website easy to use, I have given everything apporpriate titles and and clear headings, making it so the user can easily tell what the content is on each webpage or section. I also have altenate text for all of my images in case they don't load, or if the user is browsing the web with graphics turned off, or if the user is visually impared. My navigation makes it easy for users to get to where they want to go and know where they are at.
Search Engine Optimization
In order to increase my site rankings in the Google search engine, I have apporpriately added "Huan-Chen Tang" to alt tags in the images, in the titles of links, and throughout my webpage as a whole. Since my website is about me, it makes sense to include my name wherever it is reasonable to do so.
Return on Investment
By following current web standards, implementing principles of usability, and increasing my website's search engine rankings, my return on investment has greatly increased. Since my website is not trying to sell any product or service, my return on my investment in my website (my time), is that people will find, read, and use my website. That is the purpose of my website, and by following web standards and making it more usable for those coming to my website, I decrease the possibility of annoying or frustrating my users. By increasing my search engine rankings, I am making it easier for people to find my website.
